Blessed peace.

Some mornings when I get off work I head straight to church. This morning I did just that and spent some time with God. I attend a rocking church with tons of people on Sundays and love all of them. But other days, I just need a little time alone with The Son of Man.

The Saint Paul Cathedral is truly God’s house. It’s quiet, smells like a church and has that majestic feel that lets you know God is hanging around. I’m not Catholic anymore, but that time in Holy Mass is special.

This morning it was cool in the church and after a rough night (week) at work it was truly a blessing to just sit and pray. It only takes me about five minutes in that pew to let the weight of the world slip off my shoulders and start to drift off to sleep. He lifts that burden and carries it for me as he has for all time. I leave so refreshed and relaxed that it is truly a miracle.

All the regulars were there and it struck me once again how we are all made in His image. There were nuns who were maybe 4’10” tall, a man and his wife, along with 5 kids. He was at least 6’6″. A couple of black folks, a couple of Asian folks, a couple of Hispanic folks, and, as is usually the case in Minnesota, a bunch of white folks. The ages ranged from 5 to 85 unless I miss my guess. Some were wearing athletic gear and some came in a van for the handicapped.

But we were all His children.

I savor that time with God. I love him and he loves me.

That’s my enormous wisdom for the day.
