Not what you expected.

I’m willing to bet a bunch of you turned out to find out about the dog, how Santa did this season, the weather in Minnesota, the writing contest, etc. Nope. Well, sorta.

First you have to read my screed about politics. Don’t worry, it’s a pox for everyone kind of diatribe.

***Begin Screed***

I am so thoroughly disgusted with the narcissistic swine we have elected to office that I could drop in place and never move again. Each and every thief in Congress and the White House is putting our future in jeopardy with their incessant kick-the-can game regarding the budget. And it stinks.

Statutory requirements be damned. The Senate hasn’t done their constitutionally obligated job in over 3 years. And counting. “You can’t blame me if I dont’ do anything!” Wrong.

They all spent the last two years dodging the issue because they wanted to be reelected. Not to serve the people, but to glom onto the power that they hold for another term. They lied about their beliefs and intentions almost without exception. They failed to address the central issue – you can’t fund every nifty thing that gets you votes on the backs of less than 50% of the public. And the vehement insistence that we bludgeon and bleed “the rich” makes me violently ill.

None of them had the guts to do this in a timely manner. Instead, in the dark of night over a long weekend they snuck around Washington playing their roles for the cameras. Given the time frame involved none of the criminals in those institutions could have possibly read the document they voted on. Just like Obamacare – they passed it without reading it, because it would garner them votes from the people who wear catcher’s mitts on both hands, not because it was carefully thought out legislation for the good of the nation.

The time has come for term-limits. It came about 40 years ago and now it’s way past due. Many of the vermin in the Congress have been there 40 years and should have been gone long ago. Let’s all agree that they stink and get rid of them the next time around.

Preening dimwits that lie to you about what they have done could survive in no business that I know. No business will survive if they plan on just spending every friggin penny in sight and then extorting the money from the wealthiest customers to fund the ones with little or no money. But since the government holds the power to imprison you if you fail to cough up the money, you do it. Very sad.

I am watching the nation I love turn into the exact kind of mess that I used to pity in Europe. Pay close attention people: Europe ain’t all that swell. You are about to find out just how little you like socialism. And that’s what we have just been handed.

So, in about 2 years when the military is demoralized, riding around in broken crap left from the 1980’s, and unable to retain the very best of our citizens because they can’t take care of their families on what they’re paid, don’t be overly surprised when someone attacks us, or we can’t respond to a crisis in an effective manner. Then they will all point fingers and blame the opposition. And not a single one of them will resign and say, “I should have known better. I did stupid things for my own benefit and the country has paid the price for my vanity.” Nope, not a one will be that honest.  I remember Desert One, don’t you?

We now enter a two month period of further strutting around, lies, threats, and utter “horse-hockey” while they get ready to do nothing about the debt limit.

Here’s a clue, you bunch of Washington morons: Balance the budget like the rest of us. I’d like a new SUV and a nifty new tablet as well as a few weeks off in Florida. But I can’t afford a new car, my 10 year old one is just going to have to do for now. My tablet is the one my wife retired when I gave her one for her birthday. And Florida? Can’t afford the time off from work and the kennel fees to put the doggies in the lap of luxury while I go south.

I can’t borrow forever to pay today’s debts. The bill comes due the next month. So quit spending money we don’t have. Trim some programs. Acknowledge the fact that the constitution doesn’t mandate cultural centers glorifying the electrification of Nebraska, the walking paths through Northern Minnesota, the artwork outside Federal Courthouses. Let’s spend money like it had to be earned – because right now we’re earning it and you’re spending it faster than we can write the checks.

In other words: Grow up, act like our employees (because you are!) and not our intellectual superiors and overlords. The mere thought that you believe that to be true tells me all I really need to know about your depravity.

***End Screed***

Hey, that new dog is doing great. She’s a real sweetie. More about her later this week.
