While I won’t name anyone here, Kathy has captured a few people I know/served with in the military in her story today. Some came back with their body intact, but died very slowly from their wounds of a mental variety.
I’ve always thought of them as combat casualties. There is no other way to validate their existence outside of that view. What they did, and saw, killed them as surely as a mortar round. It just took a lot longer.
We’ll post a story on Monday, and perhaps Saturday or Sunday as well. But Monday for sure – it’s my entry this year and it’s already finished.
Be safe on the roads and remember those who gave their all in service of this nation.
